Birth | Early Life
Rema was born into the family of the Ikubor’s in the year 2001 in Benin city, Edo state, South Southern, Nigeria.
Rema is the first child of his parents and raised in a Christian background.
He is also one of the youngest stars in the Nigerian music industry whose songs have made it to the number one spot on most music billboard charts in Nigeria and even outside the country.
Rema completed his primary and secondary education in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria and also obtained his first school leaving certificate there.
Rema started singing and most especially rapping at a very tender age in churches, schools and anywhere he found himself.
While he was still in school, Rema moved to create his own live band which has his friends who were also upcoming musicians as members.
Not long after Rema created his live band, he was discovered by Charles Enebeli aka D’Prince the CEO of Jonzing world records. D ‘Prince is the junior brother of Don Jazzy (CEO of Mavin Records).
D’Prince discovered Rema on Instagram after he made a freestyle to D’Prince tune ‘Gucci Gang’. So, he went down to Benin to bring him to Nigeria’s music and entertainment capital Lagos.

D’Prince believes that Rema is an artiste that has the vibes and the entire world would be willing to listen to his songs. So, he went down to Benin to bring him to Nigeria’s music and entertainment capital Lagos.
On the 22nd March, 2019 Rema was officially unveiled as a Jonzing World and Mavin Records artiste. His unveiling was done simultaneously with the release of his self-titled 4-track EP.
Rema has worked with DJ Tunez, Wizkid and Reekado Banks on the single ‘Turn Up’ having added additional vocals to the song.
Rema has also released a couple of songs to his name. Some of them were released after he signed into Mavin records, while others were already out before he signed the deal.
