Daniel Dino Melaye was born in Kano State on the 1st of January, 1974.
He is an indigene of Kogi State. From childhood Dino has always been a leader, occupying various leadership positions during his school days.
From primary and secondary school days, Daniel Dino Melaye was always picked as the head boy in his class.
While in the University, where he studied Geography, at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Dino was a Student union leader.
Before he led the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
He was also the Secretary General of African Youth Council and then that of the Commonwealth Youth Council.
He won several awards with these position he held example is African youth of the year award among many other citizens of 54 competing Commonwealth countries in 2005.
Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, appointed Melaye to chair the Presidential Advisory Council on Youths.
His bold moves which started from his early days has helped shape his life into what he has become today.

Dina is alumna of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, where he bagged Bsc. in Geography.

He is also into widow empowerment programme which is an initiative to help widows around the country.

She filed for divorce after a domestic violence dispute where she claimed that he beat her up and pointed a gun to her head.
Shortly after, Dino Melaye moved another woman named Alero Falope into the home that he shared with Tokunbo.
Falope moved out six months later.
Tokunbo had three children with Dino, though he has another child with an unnamed woman in July 2016.
Melaye was a member In the Federal House of Representatives.
He openly opposed President Jonathan Goodluck, calling his government the most corrupt one in Nigeria.
Melaye won the Senatorial election, representing Kogi West Senatorial District on April 28, 2015.
He seconded the nomination of Senator Bukola Saraki as candidate for the office of President of the Senate. Following a nomination made by Senator Ahmad Sani Yerima.
Melaye said on two separate interviews that he is an ambitious man and would one day love to be the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Senator Melaye’s political career has been one with lots of controversies and scandal.
As a senator, Melaye was alleged to be operating a checking and savings account with a US bank, in violation of Nigeria law, a report he has not denied.
Nigeria’s Code of Conduct Bureau strongly and clearly prohibits the use of foreign accounts by elected and public officials.
One transaction on Melaye’s Bank of America debit card is an approved payment to the New York-based Schweiger Dermatology for $1,000.
The company describes itself as a medical and cosmetic dermatology service offering a variety of skin healthcare needs.
Melaye has repeatedly dodged questions that he operates these bank accounts, despite evidence provided included transaction dates, bank statements, card numbers, and location of the transactions.
Melaye criticized Edo state Governor Adams Oshiomhole for “marrying a foreign woman” rather than marrying a Nigerian woman.
He had threatened to beat up Senator Oluremi Tinubu and ‘impregnate’ her on the floor of the Senate.
In June 2017, a process to recall Senator Melaye from the National Assembly was kickstarted.
The Senator characteristically has accused the governor of “shooting the moon and boxing the air.”
Melaye further said, “Spending over N1bn of taxpayers’ money on an unproductive venture, when salaries and pensions have not been paid, is wicked.
In his word, “I will continue to defend the poor and defenseless masses of Kogi State. If I die, I die. We must rescue the state”.
In a tape recorder, Melaye was heard telling Muhammed Audu, the son of late former Governor of Kogi, Abubakar Audu, that he used his connections to frame the kogi state government.
In the Audio, Audu also told the senator to mention Edward Onoja, the Chief of Staff to the current Kogi State Governor,Yahaya Bello, adding that it was the only way to bring the government down.
Melaye was arraigned in March 2018, he was charged with an attempt to indict Kogi Chief of Staff Onoja. He was granted a N100,000 bail after.
Arrested on 23 April, 2018 at the international wing of Nnamdi azikiwe Airport by NIS as they claim his name was on the watch list of the interpol after the Nigeria police declared him wanted .
Wanted for questioning over his alleged involvement in a case of unlawful possession of prohibited firearms.
After criminal suspects Kabiru Saidu, a.k.a Osama, and Nuhu Salisu, aka Small, were arrested at Ogojueje in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi on January 19, 2018. They confessed to the police that Senator Melaye hired them to cause unrest in the state ahead of the 2019 general elections.
He refused to respond to police requests for interrogation and was eventually picked up at his home in Abuja, where he jumped off a moving police convoy and was subsequently hospitalized.
Melaye Certificate Scandals in 2017, included his claim to have obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from Ahmadu Bello University and a degree from the prestigious Boston-based Ivy League Harvard University in the United States.
His colleague and former majority leader of his party (APC) Sen. Ali Ndume was the person that called for his probe pressuring the house to investigate his academic history.
He might have faced severe criminal charges that might undermine his political career if such scandals did prevail, but he out-rightly denied the claims.
According to Malaye, he graduated legitimately from ABU Zaria and successfully earned seven degrees from various other institutions around the world.
Among them are Harvard’s University Kennedy School for Educational Leadership and London School of Economics and Political Science.
There were several claim that Mr Malaye never obtained any degree from the aforementioned institutions.
His claimed to have obtained these degree was finally verified and he will no longer face any severe criminal charges.
